The Text Font or, the appearance of the Text is not part of a DWG/ DXF file, it is defined in external files called “Fonts”
Across CAD Systems, the appearance of the letters in fonts which may have the same name (eg ROMAN) varies greatly.
The ratio of letter width to letter height for the same character varies greatly between fonts. This image shows the same text written with two different fonts. Although the text length is the same, the widths of the individual letters are very different.
If no useful results are obtained when multiplying text widths or heights with a factor, the text fonts can be exchanged with the help of conversion tables.
